I assembled the transmitter circuit on a project board. Tested output with a standard LED and it seems working fine. I found out bit difficult to choose IR LED’s as they have various frequency ranges. Can you please clarify what IR LED’s to suite for this?

Good question. You can use any IR LED within the range of 25KHz to 55KHz. Can use even a TV remote IR LED's which are more familiar in the market.
By adjusting the VR1, you can match the output frequency to the receiver’s frequency. I’ll upload the IR receiver’s schematic, applications and many more soon.
